Kunqu Opera, produced in the late Yuan dynasty and early Ming dynasty, has six hundred years of history. It is also called " mother of the drama " in China. Kunqu Opera, contains a high literary and artistic value. With the development of Chinese opera, Kunqu Opera has been gradually developing. Moreover, Chinese opera also provides a wealth of nourishment for its future development. In the process of the increasing maturity of the Kunqu opera, each working part and the singing in a Chinese opera manner have also been improving continuously.Kunqu opera, also known as the Kunshan accent was not entitled theauthentic official status until the reign of Emperor Wanli in the Ming dynasty.The earliest performing form of Kunshan accent was presented by a cappella, which had been created by GuJian and other literates. Then the reform of Liangfu Wei reformed it with soft and melodious characteristics, resulting in the “Shuimo accent” fused with enormous advantages of the opera in the north and south. “Wu Dan”(female role) in kunqun opera is an essential part of Kunqu Opera. It is also the most representative art role in “Dan” department. According to the specific characteristics, “Wu Dan” can better reflect its “Shuimo accent” with delicate euphemism. Therefore, the author researches the singing of “Wu Dan”, exploring Du Liniang’s singing in the Peony Pavilion Garden as a specific example.This paper is divided into three chapters. The author started to research the development of female role "Dan" as beginning, and summed up the history of some certain type of role "Wu Dan" starting from scratch in the first chapter. The second chapter specifics in detail the application method of the classic music for voices in Chinese opera "Wu Dan", in terms of singing characteristics, articulation, vocal and technical characteristics of breathing, as well as the use of "Tunes". The last chapter, the author took Liniang Du, who is the heroine in Kunqu Opera "Peony Pavilion" for example, minutely putting importance on the analysis of her aria features application in pronunciation, articulation, sharp-catchy word and run-cavity.In Qing jia periods of Qing Dynasty,the“roles”in opera often confused between the two Chinese words“脚色”and“角色”.Considering using a more orthodox word,this paper chooses the first word to represent alleged opera characters with a certain type of profession.
