Research On Turn-control Strategies Of Entertainment Talk Show <Day Day Up>(《天天向上》)

<Day Day Up> is a large entertainment talk show of Hunan TV, the audience like it very much, the rating is among the best in the variety show. Academic circles have done a lot from different aspects to explore the secret of its success, some of them from the language aspect, but studies from the turn-control strategies are not many.Based on the entertainment talk show<Day Day Up>, used relevant theories about turn of conversation analysis for reference and stood on thirteen periods about more than three million transcriptional corpora, this paper describes, analyzes and studies the turn-control strategies of the hosts and guests.Firstly, we introduce turn and turn-control strategies simply. The definition of turn, turn-building constituent and turn-taking mechanism are included, turn-control strategies are mainly divided into three classes, turn-striving strategies, turn-keeping strategies and turn-transferring strategies.Secondly, from three aspects, as striving for turn-control, keeping turn-control and transferring turn-control, we analyze all of the strategies in the corpora. Among them, interruption, insertion, repetition, restatement, conversational repair and conjunction are mainly used when conversation participants are striving for turn-control; repetition, conjunction, conversational repair and discourse to be added can be used for keeping turn-control; questioning method and limiting turn-length are transferring turn-control strategies. After that, we explore the reason and the role of their appearance, and we make comparative analysis among hosts, between hosts and guests.Finally, we make research conclusions:personality characters, role positioning, power and position, the features of strategies will influence the strategy choice of speakers; the host group of<Day Day Up> can use the combination of all strategies properly in different language environment, they lead and guide the language process of the whole program, and the audience like it very much because of its lively and humorous language style. Through the conclusions, we can find the’secret’in language factors why the rating of<Day Day Up> is always high.
