Conceptual Metaphor Translation Strategies And Techniques In E-C Scientific Document

The scientific document or scientific text can be defined as a research object by all scientific practice activities. Scientific documents are mainly selected from Kexuehome and some other authoritative websites. According to a summary of foreign and domestic metaphor translation studies and combined with textual functions of conceptual metaphor theory to scientific documents, the paper aims to conclude conceptual metaphor translation strategies and techniques in E-C scientific documents. Based on the frequency of conceptual metaphors in distinct professional subjects and by introducing textual functions of conceptual metaphor theory to scientific documents, the thesis focuses on discovering and solving problems in conceptual metaphor translation to highlight conceptual metaphors in scientific documents to perfect translation strategies and techniques in E-C scientific documents.That is to say, conceptual metaphor has been regarded as a necessary means to improve E-C scientific documents translation. In light of the particularity in conceptual metaphor translation, this paper concludes that vehicle preservation, vehicle absence and vehicle conversion should consist of important and effective strategies in conceptual metaphor translation in scientific documents. Notably, amplification, omission and some other techniques should not be ignored. Usage of conceptual metaphors and conceptual metaphor translation will provide guidance for E-C scientific document translation and conduct more translation practice in various professional fields.
