The course of literary theory is one of the main compulsory courses of literature education in colleges and universities. The textbooks of literary theory are of great significance in teaching basic principles of literature, enhancing students’ awareness of different discipline and so on. It has been more than 60 years since the setup of C hinese Minority Literature discipline from the establishment of new China. However, the studies about the start up and development of the textbooks of the minority’ theory are still bare. The dissertation examines the textbooks of the minority’ theory in view of “ethnicity”. As comparison, mainstream literature theory textbooks are selected in different time periods since the establishment of new China. The dissertation also examines the theoretical statements of “ethnicity” in these textbooks. Through the comparison and analysis, it can be revealed that mainstream literature theory materials and the textbooks of the minority’ theory are inseparable, but they share thinking of duality and different expressions of “ethnicity”. The communication is still need to be built between them. The construction of interactive and multi- ethic literary theory will help to promote the communication of two disciplines, providing some new thoughts about the construction of Chinese literary theory textbooks.
