Research On Pulitzer Prizes And China News Award Contest Winning Photographs Of Breaking News

Photographs of breaking news have stronger news values, because they can receive more attention of audiences. People always have special feeling when they read stories from these pictures. Photographs of breaking news are more important than others.With the rapid development of the new media, image-consumption has already become a mainstream model, text news could not meet the needs of the audiences. Simply text reporting of breaking news cannot meet the audiences’ needs to understand the news facts, and also less of objectivity, comprehensiveness and authenticity of news facts. So photographs of breaking news are particularly important, which has a position that can not be replaced in news photography. The research of typical Pulitzer prize and Chinese News Award for Breaking News Photographs has an important value.This paper mainly includes the following three aspects. The first aspect is the research on the themes of breaking news Photographs of the Pulitzer Prize and China News Award.The Photographs of “natural calamities” of the China News Award and the Pulitzer Prize are more than others, and then the theme on “rescuing” photographs of the China News Award and “war” photographs of Pulitzer Prize.The themes of the Two have similarities, and there also have a lot of differences. The second aspect is the research on the core people of those photographs. It is found that what the most the photographs of China News Award for Breaking present are victims of the disaster, but they transfers huge positive energy. While the photographs of the Pulitzer Prize mainly present those victims’ sadness, pain, and despair in disasters, which mainly transfers negative information to audiences. The third aspect focuses on news idea and ideology existing in photographs, and found that there are great differences between photographs of Pulitzer Prize and those of China News Award.
