| Born in 1969, De Botton as the "British genius" type writer, has published 11 long essays and more than 40 short prose. Moreover, Botton also often attend some well-known foreign public media and networks actively, many of his long essays have been made into the appropriate TV documentary, which the commentary is De Botton himself. As an active contemporary best-selling author,De Botton has became the focus of attention nowadays.From domestic and foreign review reports of view, De Botton’s own talent and his long essays’ ideological content achieved endless praise,although currently there are only four related papers, but for the creation of such a force exuberant writer, until today there is a great space to research De Botton to researchers.Therefore, this study will jump out of a single impression on De Botton’s essays or sentiment-review study.Fristly I will anasyle the explicit text style of De Botton’s long essays by observing the histroy of his main writiing action, research the writing mode of this text nextly,and combine with relevant literary theory and the contemporary literary context to judge the value of De Botton’s long essays’ writing mode.The research objects is 10 long essays which have been translated from the domestic Shanghai Translation Publishing House mainly, including How Prust Can Change Your Life and Consolations of Philosophy,The Art of Travel, Status Anxiety,The Architecture of Happiness,On Seeing and Noticing, Religion for Atheists, The Pleasures and Sorrows of the Work, A Week at the Airport: A Heathrow Dairy and The News:A User’s Manual,the short pose which not been translated will come as a research reference.This paper is divided into three chapters to be studied De Botton essay writing mode.Firstly, I will overall grasp the creative writing way from the text of De Botton essay. With boring charm this essay as a dividing point, I will divided Botton’s essay into two periods to analyze the writing mode from the two time periods respectively: In first part of this paper, The external form of the early essay text showed as visual polymerization text.Combining theory theorists related Deleuze ‘s perspective and so on, This way of writing the text is heterogeneous and contact resistance characteristics; The second part of this paper,I found that De Botton pastiched the text fragments and images into his subsequent works arbitrarily, and the proportion of image expression in the essay text gradually occupied more than words. In other words,De Botton start to copy and repeat the early personal writing mode constantly, resulting in a pattern of traces of writing, there is a bad influence that De Botton’s last writing gradually lost the charm of personalized; Third, with related literary theory and the context of contemporary literature expecially, in the view of the change history of English essay, I think that De Botton’s early essay writing mode has some innovations that breaking through the language medium of writing linear shackles, which is the challenge of the ‘spatial’ Writing difficulty, so this personalized innovation in the context of contemporary literature, especially on the view of the changes history of English essay undoubtedly has a certain pioneer, So I think De Botton essay writing mode is one of the innovations of contemporary literary writing useful and active attempt.Also in recent years the speed of De Botton published essays was faster and faster, but the influence was not as good as before, which is the way of writing pattern is not unrelated, I have to say this is a pity for the increasingly being marginalized contemporary literary terms, but that since the youth was hailed as "genius writer" of De Botton is perhaps not a regret, Because today he is busy with various public organizations or commercial profit organization, and acting in the major network media with no time to attend. |
