Study On Wang Jianmin’s Guzheng Musical Works From The Perspective Of Multiculturalism

Multiculture is a new word emerged in recent decades,got popular because of its profound influence, abundant contents and novel ideas with epochal character. Now we are living in the multicultural social,context which welcomes musical cultures at home and abroad. Wang Jianmin is a Chinese modern composer who has made significant contributions to the development of folk music. He began to produce Guzheng musical works since the late 1980 s, in which he not only adopted a great many Chinese traditional musical elements, but also incorporated foreign advanced music creation techniques, so as to open up a road for the prosperity and development of Guzheng music. Therefore, studying Wang Jianmin’s Guzheng musical works from the perspective of multiculturalism is an innovative research topic.Based on the review of the 9 Guzheng musical works produced by Wang Jianmin, the summary of his creative themes, the analysis of performance forms and the expression of emotions, the composer’s creative ideas were derived. Wang Jianmin’s Guzheng musical works are characterized by traditional culture that being carried forward in the thousands of years of Chinese history with the major features of nationality and inheritance. In addition, his works also show the characteristics of modern culture that brought about by the impact of external factors in modern times with the major features of innovative and diversified. Among all, the characteristics of traditional culture and modern culture are the focus of this study. In this paper, the research methods like literature review, interdisciplinary research and comparative study were adopted to make in-depth analysis on this topic. Through the elaboration on the characteristics of traditional culture and modern culture, the multicultural characteristics of Wang Jianmin’s Guzheng musical works were demonstrated. At the same time, analysis was made from the perspective of “harmony”artistic conception, spiritual symbols, and the interaction and integration of music and culture, in which the time significance of Wang Jianmin’s Guzheng musical works were exhibited.Generally, Wang Jianmin’s Guzheng musical works were composed after the reform and opening up when the culture was being developed in full swings, so that these works are in line with the law of historical development and can well meet the people’s aesthetic psychology, which are the actual reflection of multiculturalism.
