GuiZhou Rattan Hemp Palm Grass Weaving Technology Research

Folk art and craft creation is the process of exploring the works of nature. Many Guizhou folk arts and crafts are worth researching and studying. However, the “products” woven by cane brown linen are neglected. The strong natural flavor and simple rural atmosphere leads to rustic and warm feelings. After studying the domestic research situations, there are many researches on other folk arts in Guizhou. However, few involve cane brown linen, fewer about its creativity. This paper, through field research, finds its creativity is worth studying. The survey process is an exploration for source. Source exploration includes production of “container”, cane brown linen weaving artists produce various artworks in orderly and complex details by winding, crossing and interspersing with their quick-witted and nimble-fingered personality. Source exploration also boasts “righteousness”. During the process, it is inevitable to introduce scientific design ideas intentionally and unintentionally, which demonstrates the thought of creation in line with the nature. It gives full play to the unique spiritual and cultural functions by directly stimulating man’s organs with surface characteristics of the utensils. Therefore, the creative products boast artistic and cultural value like other folk arts in Guizhou, which should not be ignored. In the modern life, cane brown linen products are abandoned by people so that it has to seek innovations at the expense of original ecological source. Thus, our serious consideration is needed for Guizhou’s cane brown linen’s innovation and protection.
