Based on Investigating the use condition of speech act for Chinese requests between foreign teachers in Chinese universities and Chinese postgraduate students, this thesis is going to explore an underlying mechanism by means of comparing the similarities and differences that these two groups conduct the speech act for Chinese requests.The study of request policy both at home and abroad have made great achievements in this field, but the study group are mostly confined to English majors, so we are lacking of attention to the Chinese learner who are coming from different cultural backgrounds.Politeness policy exists in every language community, but the standards and means of "politeness" principle has been a parameter, so that there is a certain confusion to language learners of different speech communication.In order to probe into the similarities 、 differences and reasons of conducting the speech act for Chinese requests of the same language by the learners who have the different cultural background, my main task is recording learners’ courses,transcribing the data, conducting questionnaires and interviews,observating learning situation and collecting corpus evidence.If it is necessary, I will take part in the teaching. The resulting material is mainly follows the route of research at home and abroad, to investigate the effect mechanism of pragmatic transfer on the language used when requesting speech act act as a carrier.The specific research questions are the the following three aspects:(1) In the example of requesting speech act,the similarities and differences when making request of Chineseand English between Chinese learners and local Chinese speaker;(2) the reasons and factors that may cause these differences.(3) some teaching measures that we can take.After collecting and analyzing data, based on both quantitative and qualitative research methods,the results of this study are summarized as followed:according to the learning difficulties of acquiring the speech act of requests to Chinese Learners, it can be found that due to the learners’ pragmatic social competence developed lowly, it results to a lack of appropriateness of the language of form. In this regard we should strengthen the input of metapragmatic knowledge and transform this declarative knowledge into procedural knowledge through a sufficient amount of exercises into procedural knowledge in order to achieve successful communication.
