On Conceptual Orientation In ’problem Novels’ During May Forth Period

Problem novels in ‘May 4th’ are keen on talking about social problems, the outlook of life,which regard promoting‘new ideas’ as the guide, and pay attention to the philosophy of the novel.As a result,It repress and weaken the space and strength of characters,for which are supposed to work, leading to novel conceptual shortcomings. Brief criticism like this can be found everywhere in the present research achievements, but there is little research which could be back to the historical situation, based on the text, carefully analyze the patterns of the ‘May 4th’ problem novels, ask what reason cause the conceptual dilemmas for literary creation, with a rational objective and comprehensive evaluation, especially from the point of social and historical context in the 1920 s, the cultural ecology, literary trends, combining with the history, journalism, psychology, restore the complex reasons of novels conceptualization, reflecting the influence on the novel artistic aesthetic value, which is the focus of this paper study.The article is divided into three parts:First of all,It discuss the novel conceptual performance, elucidating three kinds of patterns driven by conceptualization:the superfluous comment pattern, the narrative mode of mutational personality, the narrative mode of the coincidence. From the perspective of text,analyze the similarity of novel structural erection, set the criticism in the artistic skill level,such as novel structure, characters, psychological changes, atmosphere.Secondly,It find out the causes of novel conceptual problems,being contact with the three conceptual patterns that last chapter summarizes, to reveal the historical motivation behind each pattern. The superfluous comment pattern is related to the discussion circumstance of public problems and political comment style, incomplete novel theory itself;The narrative mode of mutational personality mostly comes from the representative writers from Literature Research, who secretly take advantage of foreign religious culture resources to modify national personality, Christian personality mainly represents foreigh resources, of course, some writers,such as Xu Di Shan, is also influenced by Buddhism culture, but he belongs to minority,my paper only talk about the big trend. Because cultural circles attached great importance to the national quality of Christianity,that also influenced many writers of Literature Research, who therefore attached importance to the transformation function of literature views of ‘love’, directly leading to the narrative mode of mutation personality; The coincidence mode is not only related to the democracy of literature advocated by culture movement, but also influenced by the social reality which were ravaged by warlords militaristic, and the idea of removal soldier.Thirdly, It reflect the conceptualization of the Problem novel respectively from the aspect of thought and aesthetic. At first, It summarized that conceptualization rooted in the ‘social transformation’ trend, which was certain rational when setting in the harsh social background at that time. On the other hand, It took the subjective factors into consideration,and found that the problem novel writors are mostly from college, who were lack of rich life experiences, but being carried into the trend of The Times.They are eager to utilize literature to finish social transformation. Thus, subjective and objective factors conjointly cause conceptualization tendency.Secondly,It discusses the aesthetic simplification caused by conceptualization,and points out the features of conceptualization are the thin characters. Meanwhile,It explores how literary aesthetic classic use the basic method,such as portrait, action, dialogue, psycho-drawing and environmental background to serve character image, how to get the rational knowledge into vivid and moving image detail, and naturally show it to the reader, rather than regarding literature as the mouthpiece of the concept.
