The Sino-U.S. Competition And Coopperation In Outer Space In The Context Of Building New Type Of Major Poower Reelations

The term Sino-U.S.“new type of major power relationship” was proposed byChina in consideration of international and national affairs as to build a new pattern ofrelationship which is based on mutual respect and mutual benefit with the U.S. Sinceboth sides have reached the consensus on building “new type of major powerrelationship”, the urgent affair now is to make it practicable. As China and the U.S.have common benefits in outer space, this dissertation believes that their cooperationin outer space can be developed into the important strategic basis. Meanwhile, theyare also confronted with inevitable competition in outer space because of their gapstrength and different ideas, requiring complete institutions to avoid the break-ups ofconflicts. Therefore, this dissertation chooses the bilateral and multilateral level as theentry point to study the Sino-U.S. competition and cooperation in outer space, toanalyze their mutual interaction model, to explore its meaning to the building of “newtype of major power relationship”, to predict their development trend and to providepractical strategies for China.
