Research On Creating The National Unity And Progress Model City In Nanning

The capital city of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Nanning, is acity of compact nationalities with Zhuang predominating, altogethercontains50ethnics, which has repeatedly been awarded the honorabledistinction of "national unity and progress model collective" by the statecouncil. And Nanning has long been a model of national unity. In2013,Nanning was identified as one of the13national unity and progressmodel pilots by the State Ethnic Affairs Commission, which is a fullaffirmation for national unity work of Nanning city.However, Nanning has been identified as the model pilot of nationalunity and progress, which can be accounted for at two aspects: first, as amulti-ethnic-populated area, it provides a social basis for Nanningnational unity work; second, by strengthening national legal systemconstruction, developing the ethnic economy, promoting the minorityculture and improving the ethnic minority social life, Nanning has set upa solid political foundation for national unity. This study, based on thetheory of Marxist ethnic theory and policy, coming macrocosm andmicrocosm, history and reality, mainly investigates the implementation ofNanning national unity work by fully using the methods of ethnologicalfieldwork, sociological survey questionnaire and case interview. In themeantime, this study, combining theory and practice to analyze thedifficulties and challenges, aims at putting forward some policysuggestions for national work and providing a reference for creatingnational unity and progress model pilot city.
