Nowadays, globalization has changed the great environment ofinternational migration. The number of international migrants is risingrapidly as a new round of international migration wave springs up. Since1970s, Chinese new migrants have become the main force ofinternational migration. As the economic relationship between China andAfrica is increasingly close, tens thousands of Chinese people arrive inAfrica and turn into Chinese new migrants in Africa, including Goldminers from Shanglin county, Guangxi. The aim of Shanglin gold miners’ emigration to Ghana is to obtainprofits by their professional mining skills. However, according to the lawof Ghana, they are irregular immigrants and illegal gold miners. Shanglingold miners suffer a great loss on their life and property as Ghanagovernment decides to take drastic measures to solve the problem. So it isof great significance to study the issue of Shanglin gold miners from theperspective of international migration. There are a wide range of academic problems brought about byShanglin gold miners, including the ways and means to migration, theinfluence on area of origin and area of destination and the factors thataffect their migration act, etc. In addition, the protection of Chinese newmigrants is worth exploring.
