The "Moralization" Logic Of The Struggle

When we talk about the contentious politics in Chinese society in the past discussions, scholars tend to focus on the organization and mobilization strategies. However, this thesis is trying to pay attention to a consumer rights case in the communications industry to reveal how contentious politics occurred, and explain the "moral" logic from the consumer rights to contentious politics.In research methods, the paper selected interviews and virtual ethnography. The materials for this paper included interviews with activist leaders, the observations from QQ groups and activist leader’s blogs and microblogs. When using these data, the author followed the principle of "No Harm" in the study, trying to make the research not prevent defenders in the future activism.First, the author tried to describe the "20 yuan cap card rights event". In this event, the users of this cap card have not solved the dispute with Y Company. To this day, this event has been processed for the past two years. In this process, the consumer rights gradually transformed into contentious politics, people tend to safeguard their rights by scene. They tried to guard the social fairness and justice instead of defending their rights requirements. With more and more subjects getting involved in this event, the activists became a long and stalemate war.The group of defenders was also changed accordingly. The rights groups not only established the basic organizational and institutional framework, but also generated the grassroots leaders. Meanwhile, the rights groups have also distinguished their enemies:card dealers, online water army as well as the "silent majority." According to the differences on the claims and strategies, the group divided into the realist and the activists. With more and more group members approved of activities in radical way, the activists gradually replaced the leadership of the realist.In the event the rights, either defenders or Y company, we are increasingly inclined to use moral narrative way to interpret rights. In view defenders, rights, justice and shameless become an important dimension to build moral discourse.Finally, in this paper, an attempt was made to reveal the struggle to "morality" of the internal mechanism. First, current governance system for moral and political struggle of Chinese society provides the most enduring impulse. Second, the structure between different entities and the differentiation and integration within the group for the whole event has a profound impact. Continued involvement of various entities makes an event out of the existing legal framework. Finally, with there is an high degree of consistency under the pathogenesis mechanisms of an event in internet ecological and real social, and that was because internet belongs in an "outside the system" media channels.
