This thesis aims at Pivot to Asia policy by Obama administration, and the analysis is devided into 4 chapters.Chapter 1 made an introdution of Pivot to Asia policy, including its backgound and detailed measures. Domestically, US was stuck in the war of Afghanistan and Iraq; Internationally, Asia was becoming a booming power. US tried to take Asia’s economic advantage and rebuild its leadership in Asia-Pacific area.Chapter 2 made an analysis of the effectiveness of this policy. The Pivot to Asia policy enabled US to build a grand and solid alliance system in Asia-Pacific area, and contained China’s development to a certain degree. But the effectiveness is constrained greatly by its own national situation along with the unique situation in Asia.Chapter 3 analysed the impact on Sino-US relationship. Although the Pivot to Asia policy is aimed to constrain China’s development, the effectiveness is limited. China has no willing to challange US’s leadership, and US and China has great common interest in the field of security and economy.Chapter 4 made a conclusion that Pivot to Asia policy has some but limited effectiveness, and will not have great negative impact on Sino-US relations.
