Germany is a founding member of the EU, also performs as the axis in expanding and deepening European integration.Germany’s European policy not only directly reflects the German government’s strategy and attitude towards European affairs, but also reflects the fundamental national interests of Germany, working as the basic pillars of German foreign policy. Therefore, it is worthwhile to study and discuss Germany, from its history to the diplomacy, from its position in Europe to Europe’s influence on Germany as well as Germany’s concept of Europe and its EU policy. Given the overall background of the further development of European integration, this paper focuses on how the German government should adjust its EU policy to positively solve the country’s current domestic economic difficulties and how it can improve its economic development speed and achieve its diplomatic objectives to promote the overall development of European integration.The paper is divided into four parts. The first part analyzes the new international background and domestic situation of Germany’s European policy after the Cold War; the second part describes the main contents of Germany’s European policy, also the core part of this paper. It separately discusses Germany’s policies on European economic, political, security and defenseintegration as well as great-power diplomacy; the third part analyzes the factors that affect Germany to formulate its European strategy, which include the geopolitical advantages and disadvantages of Germany, the “middle power” role that Germany plays in Europe, public opinion and the federal constitution; the fourth part summarizes the main achievements and experiences of Germany’s European strategy.And the fourth part include the assessment of future trends in Germany’s European policy so that it expresses this paper’s core point of view: it is Europe’s Germany instead of Germany’s Europe.It gives a deep enlightenment on how Germany can make itself stronger in the scope of EU and promote the development of EU.
