“To ensure that every guilty person is subject to criminal penalty and preventing innocent people be punished”is the ultimate goal of criminal justice.However, this goal is hard to achieve because of the continuous appearance of wrongful convictions.The appearance of wrongful convictions seriously damaged the criminal justice,undermined the rights of innocent people,strike public’s faith to the justice system.How to curb the emergence of the wrongful conviction cases and protect the legal authority and credibility is an common issue which is concerned all over the world.The United States government and some non-governmental organizations such as “the innocence project”have found efficient way to correct the wrongful convictions, which provide us useful experience to correct the wrongful convictions and avoid its appearance.This article is based on the analysis of U.S. wrongful conviction cases which were published by “the national registry of exonerations”.Firstly present the newest situation of U.S. wrongful conviction and summarize the features of it,secondly analyze the complex causes of wrongful convictions,then introduce the efficient American measures and some valuable academic theory which can control the wrongful convictions.What’s more,we must mention that there are some familiar features between Chinese and U.S.wrongful convictions, we can establish a efficient criminal justice system by using the experience of the Unites States which will be a good way to perfect China’s justice system.
