Rapid development in East Asia since the 1990’s makes this area the most dynamic region in the world. As the oldest regional organization in East Asia, ASEAN plays a pivotal role in promoting regional economic cooperation. At present, ASEAN has reached a free trade agreement(FTA)with China, Japan, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand, and India separately, and ASEAN has already become the center of regional economy cooperation. These FTAs have their own typical characteristics, especially the South Korea- ASEAN free trade agreement(KAFTA). Though starting later than China and Japan, it grows at a fast pace. All the documents are officially signed before China and Japan.“Korea-ASEAN special statement for the future” is published in December 2014 at the “Korea- ASEAN Special Summit”, which aims to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation with ASEAN in various fields, and focuses on the continued perfection of KAFTA. At the same time, this statement claims to sign the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership(RCEP) in 2015. This has greatly contributed to the regional economic integration process of KAFTA, and therefore East-Asian regional economic integration appears new patterns. This proves Korea attaches great importance to the development of economic cooperation with ASEAN.China is close to the countries of ASEAN in terms of geography and development degree of economy, and both are highly complementarity with Korea. The establishment of KAFTA imposes a far-reaching effect on the East-Asian economic cooperation and the development of international relations. Meanwhile, China-Korea free trade agreement(CKFTA) will be signed in 2015, Korea not only has broaden the ASEAN’s market, but also has gradually opened the Chinese market. Against this background, making an in-depth and comparative analysis of KAFTA with CAFTA, will help to know about the challenges brought to China and the role of Korea in the economic integration of East Asia. Based on the analysis, this paper puts forward some suggestions about the strategy of China. The study of KAFTA is divided into the following six parts:The first part Systematically expounds the overall situation of KAFTA, including a brief introduction of the background, the process of signing the documents and the implementation effect. The second part analysis the main contents of “Agreement On Trade In Goods” between Korea and ASEAN, then compares them with the “Agreement On Trade In Goods” between China and ASEAN, in order to find the correlativity between the two.The third part will introduce the major parts of “Agreement On Trade In Service”, including the scope, Market Access, National Treatment, etc. Then makes a comparative analysis with the main content of “Agreement On Trade In Service” between China and ASEAN.The fourth part is the text analysis of “Agreement On Investment” between Korea and ASEAN. These rules about investment treatment and investment protection then were compared with “Agreement On Investment” between China and ASEAN.The fifth part focuses on the text content of “Agreement on Dispute Settlement Mechanism”. Through the way of explaining the original text and a comparative study with CAFTA, we can understand the main contents and core of the agreement clearly.Based on the above analysis, the last part makes a conclusion on the influence to China of the establishment of KAFTA. Under the current circumstances of East Asian regional economic cooperation, this part puts forward some suggestions about the strategy of China, in order to reinforce regional cooperation and coordination and enhance the regional competitive force.
