Rural governance is a problem that can not be ignored in the process of modernization of Chinese, which is related to the stability and development of rural society, but also tied together with the rise and fall of the country. Study on the modern evolution of rural governance model is the basis to understanding the rural governance, which has become an important link of the current rural governance research. Several attempts to rule country were made by rulers in two thousand years of tradition China. After the founding of new China, rural governance model also made adjustments and changes largely. There is no doubt that the current rural governance model promotes the process of democratization of grassroots society. But with the profound adjustment and changes of structure between society and economy, the current rural governance mode is also facing the problem to solve. In this paper, the author attempts to analyze and elaborate rural governance model in detail from four aspects of historical evolution, influencing factors, the establishment and plight of the current rural governance model and the future trend.The introduction part elaborates the background and significance of the research, the review to the related topics of domestic and foreign literature, research methods of this paper, and the definition of core concepts.The first chapter is the historical research on the rural governance model. Evolution of Chinese rural governance model has gone through three stages: the first stage is traditional governance: "county regime-gentry rule " under the govern of the country; the second stage is omnipotent governance: "integration-politics-and-commune" under the management of country; and the last is decentralization governance: "town regime-villager self-rule" under the governance of country. This process is turning from traditional political domination to political management eventual transition to modern public governance, which reflects the significant changes between national and rural social relations.In the second chapter, the author analyzes the main factors influencing the modern evolution of Chinese rural governance model, including the change of the land system, rural power structure, changes of national governance concepts and the grass-roots social autonomy.In the third chapter, the author analyzes the plight of the current rural governance model in the aspect of government and peasants, with economical and social profound changes of country in the recent years. The "town regime-villager self-rule" has been difficult to solve conflicts and different interest demands, this reality demand multiple of rural governance.The fourth chapter is the analysis of the development trend of the rural governance model and tries to construct "multiple co-governance" under the leading role of government. Based on the logic of modern evolution of Chinese rural governance model and the analysis of the current plight, the author tries to explore the ways of multiple co-governance, which especially protrudes the leading role of government, to promote the modernization of rural governance system and ability.
