Studying The Role Of Local Government In The Process Of Agricultural Modernization In Wuzhong District Of Suzhou

With the development of economy and society, the contradiction between growing demand of material and shortage of resources is rising day by day. It is becoming an urgent problem for agricultural development to mollify the contradiction between the pursuit of healthy and environmental agricultural products and the shortage of land resources, which is particularly pronounced in South Jiangsu with high development speed of economy and society and relative shortage of land resources. The effective way to solve this problem is to develop modern agriculture and realize agricultural modernization, which is the process of elevating the utilization rate of resources, promoting the economic benefits and developing agriculture of high quality. This study was conducted in Wuzhong District of Suzhou, China. We aimed to study the role of local government in the process of agricultural modernization and explore an effective way to realize agricultural modernization in an area of relatively high degree of economic and social development. According to the scoring index system of agricultural modernization of Jiangsu Province, such score of Wuzhong District is 89.58 in 2013, indicating the realization of preliminarily modernized agriculture. In the future, governmental function should be exerted adequately in this district. We should promote the construction of agricultural development platform, promote the development of Agricultural informationization, accelerate the development of agricultural innovation, impel the development of agriculture uniqueness and promote the development of professionalize of peasants by a series of strategies, including adjusting measures to local conditions, highlighting key points, utilizing advantages of natural environment and agricultural characteristics positively, insisting on protection and development, enhancing agricultural policy support, strengthening agricultural science and technology innovation, reinforcing the optimization and integration of agricultural resources and accentuating agricultural technology training, thus achieving good results in the development of modern agriculture, improving the quality and efficiency of agricultural development and taking the lead in realizing the modernization of agriculture.
