There has been a plural of geopolitical theories with diversified focuses when traced back the historical development of geopolitics since the end of 19th century. However, the foundational core similarity going through the development history that exploration of geography and politics can be concluded clearly. The reflection on geopolitics started after the Second World War, and new research issues such as culture and geo-economy are gradually covered by geopolitical scholars. Although steps have been made, yet the fundamental breakthrough has not achieved.As one direction of new Geopolitics, Critical Geopolitics differing from other theories carried out new exploration toward the so called stable core similarity inheriting from hundred years, namely, the relation between geography and politics. This paper mainly focuses on the reasoning ways of Tuathail G.O, based on the fact that he introduces discourse analysis into critical geopolitics, transforming the geographical aspect of traditional geopolitics. Besides he discloses the institutional sites which produce discourse and knowledge and its corresponding process, revealing the power relations hidden behind.Breakthroughs are made with no doubt, limitations are still un-avoided. He pays more attentions on the hegemonic production centers while ignores the rim-centers, let along the discourses and the power relations from their perspectives.
