The Construction Of Contemporary Chinese Political Culture Of Civic Education In Ideal And Belief

Presently, with the increasingly fast development of economic globalization，ournation is more and more diversified in the aspects of economic sector, socialorganization, employment type，benefit based relationships and distribution methods.As a result, people’s ideal and belief, value orientation and moral views are undergoingprofound changes. Well some changes are negative as some opposite, backward idealaffect badly on the general public. In particular, when it comes to ideal and beliefs, thevalue orientation of a lot many are fuzzy for that they only pursue their private benefitsand ignore the lofty ambition. To deal with it, the key is to educate people and to putthe education of ideal and belief to a very important position.The education of ideal and belief is a complex system project especially in thebackground of the open reform and the development of the socialist market economy,during which, the content,mission,environment，object of the education have changed alot and increased the hardship and the complexity to educate. We must insist onemancipating our mind and being practical and realistic, try to meet the demands of thenew situation. We must start with the thought foundations that generate ideal and beliefand study intensively on the new features of people’s thought, through which to findnew rules and methods in the new situation for the education of ideal and belief.Speaking of ideal and belief, we have to mention the political culture. They are notdifferent isolated concepts but indeed tightly linked and interdependent. On one aspect,political culture is the thought foundation of ideal and belief. As a social ideology,political culture is political emotions、concepts、psychology etc. It is the accumulationof all kinds of political experiences. It takes shape from the real life, reserves therealities of political life by ideologies and concepts, changes with the political life andsystem，and plays a significant psychological and spiritual dominated role on politicallife and behaviors. Ideal and belief are people’s political psychology and faith thatcome from the political system and political life. For further, as the politicalpsychology and faith become the highest state of political culture, the political culturewill combine with the ideal and belief. The changes on the political culture will alsoinfluence the changes on the ideal and belief. On the other aspect, ideal and beliefstrengthen, identify and develop political culture. In particular, while political culturetogether with the ideal and belief both belong to the category of ideology, they still have differences. The former emphasizes on the identity of political life and culture,while the latter on the lust for the vision of future. To this point, the ideal and belief,on the basis of political life and practices, will function strongly as spiritual motiveand intellectual support, activate people’s subjective initiative in the present politicalculture to realize their ideal and belief and thereby, to some degree, strengthenpeople’s identity towards the present political culture.Adhering to the guidance of the Marxist political science methodology，this papercomprehensively adopts methods of historical Analysis, theory and practice，and integratedmulti-angle. It divides into four sections. The first section starts with the basics concepts ofpolitical culture and ideal belief and compounds that both the cultivation of political cultureand the education of ideal belief are about assembling motive and intellectual supports for themoving forward of socialist cause with Chinese characteristics. They do not oppose butcompliment each other. Going from how to setting up the cultural foundation for idealbelief, the second section analyzes the current situation of political culture andexplores ways to foster the culture. The third focuses on addressing the challenges andproblems facing people’s ideal and belief and accordingly, the section offers somesuggestions for the education of ideal and belief. At last, the article emphasizes againon the beneficial interaction relationship between the cultivation of political cultureand the education of ideal belief. Working together, they will provide a strong drivingforce for the construction of the socialist cause with Chinese characteristics.
