The Establishment And Development Of Poland-China Strategic Partnership

On December20,2011, Chinese President Hu Jintao and visiting Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski signed in Beijing a joint statement extending the relations between China and Poland to a strategic partnership level, with the purpose of strengthening and deepening Sino-Polish bilateral relations.According to Chinese President Hu Jintao and Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski, the2011Strategic Agreement between China and Poland would represent a turning point in these two countries bilateral cooperation and understanding:through the means of economic, political, educational and cultural cooperation, the two nations would help each other to develop their economy, improve their political and educational situation, and increase their understanding of each other’s cultural heritage.This paper aims at examining the importance of the meeting between the Chinese and Polish President in2011and the signing of a Strategic Partnership between China and Poland, and establishing the extent of success or failure of this partnership.This dissertation gathers together the history of Poland-China relations, analyzing the background, reasons and consequences of the establishment of Polish-Sino strategic partnership. It will describe the developments of Polish-Chinese cooperation in the fields of politics, economy, culture and education resulting from signing the partnership declaration and summarize the achievements. The main focus of the thesis will be the Polish perspective on the relations with China and different points of view of Polish politicians, scientists, media and public opinion on the subject. It will try to explain the meaning and significance of the strategic partnership with China for Poland. This paper will not only analyze the existing cooperation but also try to predict the future development and opportunities of Poland-China cooperation.
