In recent years, in the process of the third wave of democratization, there werelarge-scale anti-government demonstrations broke out in some countries and regions, which caused the social unrest and seriously affected the economic development anddemocratic political stability. Since the late1970s, democratization has achieved goodresults in developing countries so that people have a good looking for the development ofdemocracy, but a series of street politics makes people to confront that the developmentof democracy in these countries are falling in trouble."Color Revolution" of the CIScountries at the beginning of the new century, the street fighting of Thailand in the pastten years, the "Arabia spring" which begun at the end of2010, and the Ukraine crisisfrom2013to2014, these street politics in these countries is becoming a commondemocratic political chaos. So, why street politics occurred and how did this happen? Didit belongs to the proper meaning of democracy? Research on the street politics will helpus deepen our understanding of the democratic politics and democratic political rights ofcitizens, realize the problems of the development of democracy in developing countries, and provide experience and lessons for other countries to develop democracy, which hasa certain significance. This paper is divided into four parts. The first part is an overview of relevanttheories about street politics, which mainly introduces the definition, nature, type, role, features, five aspects of the street politics. Street demonstrations is the way that expressthe citizens’ political will and participate in the national political life, which is thecitizen’s democratic rights and belongs to the scope of democracy. But we can found thatthere are illegal phenomena in the street politics of the developing countries, which isviolent conflicts, the destruction of political procedures and election results. This isbeyond the scope of democracy and makes that the negative impact of street politics is fargreater than its positive role. The second part takes the three frequent street politics in developing countries asexamples, which describes the process and the specific reasons for the battles of eastUkraine and west Ukraine in Ukraine, the Red Shirt and the Yellow Shirt in Thailand, andthe religion and secular in Egypt. The third part is about the roots of frequent street politics in developing countries, which is summarized by the above three representative street politics. In the aspect ofeconomy, developing countries in the process of economic development formed thebinary economic structure, which made the economic development unbalanced amongregions, urban-rural, class. The phenomenon of polarization between the rich and thepoor is serious. Economic underdeveloped and fragile caused popular discontent; In theaspect of politics, one is the defect of democracy. For example, legal system is not perfect, political party system is not mature, democratic election is error, army highly intervenesthe politics, and the government is lack of efficiency, the other is that the internationalpowers interference and influence the other countries’ politics; In the aspect of culture, the democratic culture of the developing countries is not mature; From the socialessence, the existence of antagonism between class, religion, region, ethnicity makes thesociety in a state of fragmentation. The direct reason of street politics is that four types ofcontradiction was intensified----the contradiction between the rich and poor; thecontradiction between regional, ethnic, religious; the contradiction between thegovernment and the people; the contradiction among the elite groups. The fourth part is about the reflection on the development of democracy indeveloping countries caused by street politics. Because the negative impact of streetpolitics is far greater than the positive effect, we need to put this extreme interestexpression and political game into democratic rule and democratic process. At last, I putforward some suggestions about measures which should be taken to avoid street politicsand promote the development of democracy in developing countries.
