Current Situation And Countermeasures Of Special Drugs Support For Troops Rapidly Ascending To High Altitude

High altitude area occupies a vast territory of China, and the land frontier is long. Ithas great strategic defense importance. In the future, the troops will be rapidly ascending tohigh altitude from low altitude. The soldiers’ body function needs adequate time to adapt tothe hypoxia environment. The incidence of acute mountain sickness (AMS) will be high,which can lead to the decline of the soldiers’ physical, mental capability, and the militaryoperation effectiveness. AMS critically threatens soldiers’ health or security of life andfighting capacity. So it is applied that peculiar requirement of the troops rapidly ascendingto high altitude special natural environment area. The medical service support mode ofthose troops is different from the resident high altitude troops’ and the military operation inother areas. It is urgently needed to enhance medical support ability for troops rapidlyascending to high altitude, which has great theoretical and practical influence to safeguardhealth of military and fighting capacity.Drugs are used in the prevention, treatment and diagnosis of diseases, whichpurposefully regulate the physiological function of human body and determine theindications, functions, usage and dosage of the material. The military special drugs aremedicines and reagents used to treat trauma, war wound, and other diseases caused by thespecial environment. Special military drugs for high altitude is dedicated to prevent andtreat diseases caused by the special plateau environment, which is an important materialfoundation used to secure the health of officers and soldiers on the plateau, maintain andrecover the fighting capacity. In2007, the allotment standard of special military drugs wereset up and modified for many times. In2013, the plateau troops were equipped withindividual set of special military drugs, which included the rhodiola capsule, high altitudeskin cream, high altitude lip balm, high altitude multidimensional element piece andcompound danshen dropping pill. These measures have played a very important role in theprotection of the health of officers and soldiers on the plateau. However, it was only for high altitude troops which were deployed3000meters above sea level. There is no specialmilitary medicine support for the troops rapidly ascending to high altitude.In recent years, with the deepening of medical service of military struggle preparationand the increase of multiple military tasks, more and more troops ascend quickly from plainto plateau in order to take part in the adaptability training and multiple military operationsother than war. However, there is no support plan and operation guide of military specialdrugs for the troops rapidly ascending to high altitude up to now, and the current situationand countermeasures of special drugs support for troops rapidly ascending to high altitudeis in lack of systematic research, which can provide reference for enhancing the medicalsupport ability, maintaining health and combat ability of troops rapidly ascending to highaltitude.Based on the current requirement of special military drugs for high altitude, startingfrom analyzing the characteristics of plateau environment, incidence rate of AMS and itsinfluence on body function, we adopt the methods of literature review, questionnaireresearch and analysis, bibliography investigation, interview, expert consultation,retrospective study, cross sectional survey, spot assessment and systems analysis forrealizing current situation and countermeasures of special drugs support for troops rapidlyascending to high altitude. According to the results, there are5problems exiting in thespecial drugs support of the troops rapidly ascending to high altitude:Firstly, the current special drugs support for troop’s rapidly entering high altitude stilllacks special allotment standard.Secondly, the key technology and platform for scientific evaluation of medicines ofhigh altitude disease prevention and treatment is in lack. Many military and civilianinstitutions had explored some special drugs with different usage and effects, which wasalso lack of evaluation.Thirdly, the current medical support of currently used special drugs for troops rapidlyentering high altitude need improvement.Fourthly, the management and usage mechanism lags behind.Fifthly, the special drugs support mode for troops rapidly entering high altitude needsimprovement.Forces, with the special drugs dispensed only the high altitude task forces never even such drugs to the war zone reserves, drug supply without clear channels and standardizedoperation flow, receiving drugs cycle is long, ensuring the efficiency is low.According to the exiting problems, we put forward five strategies to improve thespecial drugs support for troop’s rapidly entering high altitude.Firstly, the special drugs distribution standard should be established.Secondly, the scientific evaluation system of high altitude disease prevention andtreatment medicine should be established.Thirdly, the research system for acute high altitude disease medicine should beimproved. Forth, the management and supervision of the whole process of drug takingshould be enhanced.Fifthly, the new model of special drugs support for troops rapidly entering should beoptimized.This study first base on the current requirement of special military drugs for highaltitude, adopt literature review, questionnaire research and statistical analysis to analyzethe demand and status quo of medicine support for high altitude put forward some feasiblesuggestions, which can provide reference for enhancing the medical support ability,maintaining health and combat ability of troops rapidly ascending to high altitude.
