With the increase of aging and senility of population and the small family structure, the issue of provision for the aged has been becoming the focus of the whole society. Shanghai has become an aging population city 20 years earlier than other cities, the ratio of elderly people in the city populations is as high as 25.7% and the population of partially disabled and fully disabled elderly people is about 250,000. With the changing of the features and structure of elderly people andthe 9073 pattern and function of provision for the aged care institution getting clearer, there is a soaring demand of the elderly people for the aged care institutions. The elderly people living in the aged care institutions will be mostly advanced aged, disabled or dementia elderly people who are restricted in life self-care ability. Therefore, there is a bad need for a team of sufficient elderly long term care takers with professional skills. However, due to the factors of lack of systematic training, the low income and low reorganization by the society, etc., the caregivers at present cannot adapt to the current development no matter in quantity or quality, which has become a important factor restricting the sustainable development of pension institutions. This thesis surveys the care takers and service quality of aged care institutions in Shanghai through questionnaire. The factors influencing service quality are mainly analyzed in this thesis through qualitative and quantitative analysis. The findings of the study will provide some support for promoting the construction of caregivers and improving the quality of the aged care institutions. It is founded that the team of caregivers has a direct effect on the service quality of aged care institutions; the professional quality and quantitative proportion of elderly long-term care workers are the two important factors influencing service quality.
