The transfer of rural surplus labor to cities and the acceleration of population migration bring about the problem of rural left-behind children. It is a prominent phenomenon in the process of social transformation in China and an important livelihood issue resulted from the massive migration of rural surplus labor. The problem of the large number of nationwide rural left-behind children concerns not only their education but also their healthy development. It is a heart-winning project concerning the interests of thousands of families.Children’s growth period is the key period for formation and development of their emotion, morality and psychology. The long-term lack of parental care for rural leftbehind children causes the break of the triple educational pattern composed of parents, schools and society. The phenomena of insufficient care in life, lack of teaching in education, impulsive behaviors, moral abnormality and psychological imbalance commonly exist in rural left-behind children. The biggest psychological hidden troubles in rural left-behind children who lack parental care are eagerness for parental care, eccentric personality, inferiority complex, selfishness, antagonistic psychology, lack sense of security, etc.With the development of the society, Henan, the largest population and the largest agricultural province in China, gradually becomes the largest labor-exporting province. The low level of urbanization in Henan causes its large number of left-behind children. A series of problems related to life, education, emotion, and psychology become prominent because of their special living and educational environment. This paper researches into the emotion and psychology of left-behind children in rural Henan province, studies the causes of left-behind children and their main problems. It also studies the causes of their emotional and psychological problems and the corresponding solutions. The study on this problem helps to discover the influence of lack of parental care on children’s development, which further enriches the research achievements in the field of children’s emotion and psychology. In addition, the study helps to make migrant workers pay more attention to their children’s education and arouse the society’s care for left-behind children. The paper is intended to provide basis for the decision-making of the governments, administrative departments on education, and schools, provide guidance for left-behind children’s home education, and provide help for their healthy development.
