Marxism is the basic guiding principle for our party and our country.To see the nature of the complex social phenomena,and decide on our course, we must adhere to the Marxist stand, viewpoint and method so as to correctly understand the general trend of economic and social development as well as the mainstream and tributaries of social ideology. Against the background of China’s comprehensive deepening reform, with no doubt it is of great realistic importance to incorporate the inheritance of Marxism of the Second International into the research vision, and to explore the law behind it.In this paper, with the method of historical materialism, dialectical materialism and comparative study and based on the revelation of social background and theoretical background against which the Second International was founded as well as detailed and accurate material, the author makes a systematic analysis of Engels’ s immortal contributions in publicizing, expounding, defending and developing Marxism, explains the great role Kautsky, Plekhanov and Lenin and several other major Marxist theoretician had played in the inheritance of Marxism and the basic experience, and in combination with contemporary China’s national conditions, focuses on the exploration of a realistic path for China to inherit Marxism under a brand-new situation so as to promote the inheritance of Marxism and guide the development of socialism with Chinese characteristics.
