Since May, 2010, the Coalition Government which consisted of Conservative Party and Liberal Democratic Party began to show in the international stage. This was the first Coalition Government since the UK has established. The Conservative Party leader, David Cameron, became Britain’s first Coalition government premier of “hung parliament” since 1974, which appeared under the European debt crisis and the international financial crisis. This paper will analyze the causes and influence of the coalition government’s policy towards EU in the background of hung parliament, predict the following policy of Cameron Coalition Government towards EU, and also looking forward to the relations between Britain and the European Union.With the influence of Britain’s political tradition and mainstream political ideas, and also the international multiple elements, the policy to EU under Cameron Coalition Government showed a strong sense of national pride and pragmatism. This can be seen from the basic principle of pursuiting maximum value of state interests and maintaining political party interests. Regardless of the in-out EU referendum politically, the measures in dealing with European debt crisis economically, the support in expansion of EU diplomatically, or the restriction of EU refugee socially, it was noticeable that maintaining stage has been always the fundamental purpose of Cameron Coalition Government. This serious of politics above have generated deep and wide influence, which consulting in the development of relations between Britain and the European Union. Meanwhile, Cameron was considered as a “troublemaker”, many uncertain factors result in the Britain and EU to face huge potential risks.To sum up, the policy to European Union under Cameron Coalition Government, especially the in-out EU referendum, was a big challenge for both Britain and the EU. This exposed intense contradictions and threats to stability and safety between them two. However, whether Britain would stay in the European Union or not, the fact that the inter-dependents relations between them would not change. They would be stand together in weal or woe, peril or safety already.
