The South-to-North Water Diversion Project is a national strategic project for optimizing the configuration of water resources and solving the problem of serious shortage of water resources in northern China, which has more difficulties in terms of the scale and the engineering difficulty than the Three Gorges Project. In order to guarantee the smooth of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project, the large-scale migration movement has become an important project involving the harmonious development of our country’s politic, economic and the culture. At the same time, it brings many changes to the immigrants in their daily life, interpersonal relationship, identities and so on. From one city to another, immigrants are forced to set up their own unincorporated communities in a new social network as the "floating population". Then, self-identification becomes the premise of steady development, and an important issue on the study of the immigration. From the early stages of Danjiangkou reservoir engineering, Xichuan County, Nanyang City, Henan Province, has come through two big immigrations, the early immigrants (1959-1978)and the recent, involving 600,000 immigrants. In this paper, the objects are Yuying village, Zhouwan village, Yanlou village, and Shenmingpu village, which were moved to Shaoling section, Linying county and Yancheng section of Luohe city in 2010 from Xichuan county. They were not adjacent to each other, and lived in different communities. Although the four villages were inter-provincial migration, the original social network disperses, and community culture and norms disintegrate during the process. To survive and develop, immigrants had to play their subjective initiative, and take corresponding measures, as maintaining the original identity at first, and then construct their identity at last. Although they have a low sense of identity now, what they have done is still the key to study the immigrant identity. Our study adopts questionnaire and depth interview, and then the article interprets the expression and meaning of identity in three respects. First, in the early period, for inadaptation and the habituation of the original identity, they want to retain their original identity rely on the original social network, community culture, and specific memory. Then, when they find it difficult to maintain the original identity after they were separated from the original large groups, they would play their subjective initiative, contacting or interacting to live in a new place. Finally, the author try to find the effects on the identity from the perspective of medium, and put forward some proposals in summaries.According to the research, the article summarizes the dynamic change of immigrants’identity, and puts forward the measures about how to increase the sense of identity from the perspective of media transmission. Especially in this open time, how the immigrants understand and choose, and what strategies and communication means the immigrants would take in this dynamic changes, are the meaning of the article research. It not only help to grasp the living conditions and psychological state of immigrants accurately, but also have progressive significance to the implementation of the national strategies.
