The proportion and growth tendency of American immigrant children population determine that the degree of immigrant children’s social integration has important influence on the future development of America. Education integration, culture integration and psychology integration are the three main dimensions of immigrant children’s social integration. The main problems immigrant children facing in the process of integrating into society are racial prejudice, legal status differences, language barriers, poverty and psychological pressure. To help immigrant children to integrate into society in America, the corresponding strategies mainly include establishing social support networks based on community, developing bilingual education based on multicultural perspective, attaching great importance to early education based on parent-child cooperation and providing mental health services based on campus. Analyzing problems and solving strategies of immigrant children’s social integration in the United States, can provide beneficial reference to promote the degree of social integration of Chinese peasant workers’ accompany-migrated children.This thesis consists of six parts.The first part is for introduction, mainly including raising the issues, the purpose and significance of the research and literature review. I can find the related theoretical basis and conform research methods by sorting and summarizing the existing research results.This part is the foundation of the main content.The second part is about the background, special implication and current situation of the urban social integration of American immigrant children.Complicated historical background and the reality of multicultural environment gives American immigrant children and their urban social integration special connotation; This part focuses on immigrant children’s language acquisition, family status and parents’ cultural level in order to putting forward the confronting problems of immigrant children.The third part mainly analyzes a series of problems appeared in the process of immigrant children’s urban social integration in American. There are certain differences in physical and mental development between immigrant children and the local peer groups because of their special immigrant experiences and cultural backgrounds.The special requirements for education and the environment lead to series of problems appeared in the process of its integration into society,such as pressure of racial prejudice and discrimination, lack of preschool education caused by the language barrier, the differences of legal status and family economic conditions, the cognitive conflict caused by the physical and mental health problems.The fourth part focuses on the policies and regulations related to immigrant children’s urban social integration in American. The implementation of the laws and the corresponding service projects guarantee for the rights of the immigrant children.This part mainly introduces the backgrounds, main contents, effects and influences of Bilingual Education Act and No Child Left Behind Act.The fifth part is about the targeted solution strategies for the problems of immigrant children’s urban society integration.The main characteristics of each strategy are the diversification of form, high flexibility and wide funding sources;The government and different sectors of society integrate resources actively to build a support system.The sixth part is the summary and inspiration for Chinese floating children’s urban social integration, which is the meaning of this paper.The problems of urban social interation of migrant workers’children also exists in China.We study the related issues in America in order to provide reference and thinking for Chinese floating children’s urban social integration.
