A Study On The Socialist Core Values Promoted By Building Favorable Family Customs

Family customs evolve from the mixture of lifestyles, living habits, ideological styles, aesthetic conceptions, value orientations and spiritual pursuits in a long-term family life. Socialist core values are the spiritual pursuits, nation’s principles, ideals of moral values and ideological souls for a country and a nation. Family customs and socialist core values have an inseparable relationship and share the function of education and guidance. On one hand, socialist core values are the conclusion and sublimation of family customs. On the other hand, family custom is the detailing and implement of socialist core values.At present, developing and extending socialist core values by family customs obtains positive effects: socialist core values have been extended and promoted in favorable family customs. In return, favorable family customs become the vivid reflection of socialist core values. At the same time, there are some negative influences of family customs on the cultivation of socialist core values. For example, some passive thoughts, like remnants of feudal thinking, have bad effects on people’s approval of socialist core values. The communication forms of family customs with rich emotional colors easily produce irrational thoughts that are inconsistent with the thinking of the rule of law advocated by socialist core values. Unfavorable family customs of some leading Party cadres pose negative effects on the promotion of socialist core values. The deep-rooted social reasons for these problems are as follows: the negative effects of socialist market economy, the impacts of multiple values on traditional family education, the changes of social and family organization and excessive reliance that family put on school education.At this stage, to enrich socialist core values by family customs needs joint efforts of the whole country, society, family and individuals by adopting the following ways of implementation. First, the quaternity of operating mechanism of the nation, the society, the family and individuals should be built up. Namely, the nation promotes and completes the institution and mechanism of the construction of family customs. The communities pay close attentions to the issues of family customs and socialist core values. Families set up well-behaved manners and individuals develop the habits of conscientiously keeping to the manners. Second, the contents of socialist core values by advocating family customs should be replenished. Third, the approaches to enrich socialist core values by family customs should be improved, such as returning to mew media to spread family customs, the parents’ performance of the family customs, establishing linkage mechanism between school education and family education. Fourth, favorable atmosphere to help enrich socialist core values should be optimized, including building up the atmosphere for public opinion, the conduct of the Party and the government, the society and equality within the family. Fifth, the theoretical guidance of developing socialist core values by building favorable family customs should be reinforced and the effective ways to cultivate the socialist core values by building favorable family customs should be explored.
