With the rapid transition of population stru cture in modern society, the population of old people who live alone are becoming more and more.They generally face with physical health, daily care and spiritua l demands, particularly the spiritual demands, and it should cause attention and concern of society.The reaserch took fifteen old people who liv e alone in Sakura community of Yanji as the research objects, and it was based on the theme of spiritual consolation urban old people who lived alone. Firstly, it collected related data mainly by the methods of questionnaire, interview and observation. A thorough understanding of spiritual consolation demands of the community old people who lived alone, mainly focused on gathering information about the lack of spiritual consolation, and it co llected information by interview method, comprehensive and in-depth investigation. Secondly, it used ecosystem theory to analyze the lack of spiritual consolation, mainly to explore fifteen old people who live alone of the community, and it m ainly found the m ain causes of the lack of spiritual consolation to prepare for social work intervention. Thirdly, combined with the actual situation of individual, service object and the community, and mainly focused on using the group work and case work, in the process of intervention it tried to use professional knowledge, skills and methods to guide service object self-refl ection, seek advantage resources and achieve self-growth. Finally, it mainly adopted que stionnaire and intervie w method to evaluate overall intervention, and draw the conclusion of this study.In order to solve the problem, this research suggested that, on the one hand, we shall guide the s olitary old m an to participa te in social interaction and collective ac tivity to improve the level of physical and m ental health; on the other ha nd, the government and society should create favorable conditions to provide the connections and activities for the elderly, and constantly improves the level of economic security and the quality of life of the elderly who lives alone and mental health level.This study aims to describe spiritual cons olation of urban old people who live alone from the perspective of social work, and it tries to use methods of social work intervention, and helps urban old people who live alone alleviate the condition of the lack of spiritual consolation. What’s more, it explores the feasibility of social work interven tion on the subject and aroused wide attention on the special group.
