“The Outline of China’s National Medium-and Long-Term Planfor Education Reform and Development (2010-2020)” has beendeliberated and approved on a State Council Executive Meeting in2010and it has been exactly proposed that information technologyhas a revolutionary influence on education development on thismeeting. With the deepening of the curriculum reform, informationtechnology education takes an essential position in primary andsecondary school curriculum structures. In addition, with the rapiddevelopment of science and technology nowadays, it is necessary toapply the information technology to teaching in order to optimizethe teaching procedures and finally cultivate and improve thestudents’ ability of information literacy.Handheld technology is a product of the development of modernscience and technology which provides a strong technical supportfor students’ scientific inquiry activities. The author finds thatmost of the cases of handheld technology involve only one sensorafter consulting a great number of documents. Thus, it fails to givefull play to the functions of the Handheld technology. In order topromote the application of Handheld Technology in junior middle schools’ Chemistry teaching, this study employs the Handheldtechnology to develop cases which are all based on the Handheldtechnology such as measurement of gas that human breathes out,measurement of Oxygen amount in the air, inquiry of HydrofluoricAcid ionization, Handheld technology application on thetransformation of Aluminum’s related compounds, etc. By applyingthe Handheld technology in experiments can restore the nature ofexperiments and make the experiment procedures more intuitive. Whatis more, qualitative and quantitative methods can be employed inChemistry experiments to improve the efficiency of the Chemistryteaching.The subjects involves in this study are all the students inClass one, Grade Nine of Wuyi junior middle school of Guiyang. Inthis study, the author will take the Handheld technology intoteaching of the inquiry of gas that human breathes out and themeasurement of Oxygen amount in the air. In order to test the effectof the practical teaching, the author adopts observation andinterview methods to make a survey on the subjects. The result showsthat the application of hand-held technology has a great influenceon stimulating students’ interest in Chemistry learning,improving their comprehensive ability, etc. Through the Handheldtechnology teaching practice, the author finally gives some opinion in her own handheld technology teaching for the hope that it canprovide some references for junior middle school Chemistryteachers.
