Comparative Study Of The Defendingability Of Chinese Female’s Basketball Team In The30^th Olympic Games

In the past decade, the development of basketball in China is speedy. Basketballmarket is booming which is based on the strong masses. Chinese women’s basketballteam is outstanding, moreover, which has dominated Asian basketball for many years.But comparing with European and American rivals, there is still certain gap. In the30th London Olympic Games, the first group of Chinese women’s basketball teamgained for three consecutive victories, for that they acquired the qualification inadvance. But they were defended for2times by United States and Turkey team.Finally they won for3and failed for2which was the second-best achievement for2decades.Through literature study, questionnaire investigation, video analysis, mathematicalstatistics, logical analysis, this paper researched into the advantage and gap ofdefender in the offence and defense ability between Chinese and strong world team.The author also offers some suggestions in order to support Chinese basketball career,excepting to improve the level of Chinese women’s basketball training andcompetition ability. According to the comparative study, the conclusions are asfollows:1. The author analyses the issues in different situations. Firstly, under the conditionof defense if the player with the ball they are always far away from the offensiveplayer and rely too much on zone defense can not go forward immediately. For themore, personal breakthrough defensive capabilities is limited so that the opponent caneasily breakthrough to the basket to pass or shooting. In this situation, Chinese playeris usually tricked by the fake action by the opponent; therefore they can only defensepassively and can not control the opponent’s shot effectively.2. Another aspect, if the player without ball who cannot concentrate attentionhighly thus they can not keep the opponent and the ball within the range of theirvision. For this reason, a series of issues need to improve, such as sick skills,defensive high center of gravity, slow step, lacks of precision judgment, defensiveconsciousness all of these caused leak proof.3. In the terms of the ability of defensing rebound, they showed strong ability tofighting defensive rebound, but they also got some weak points in many aspects. 4. The forth aspect, the player can not defend actively, moreover the teamworkbetween the players is not easy to get.
