In the era of knowledge economy, patent, which symbolizes knowledgeinnovation, has huge reserve of economic value. Under this circumstance,university, acting as the main force of patented innovation, should manage,protect and develop patents scientifically, so as to dig up its potential economicvalue. Owing to the fact that university patent management faces problems andlacks efficiency, this paper conducts deep research on work contents of patentmanagement and demands of patent information, so as to improve efficiencyand level with the help of systematic management and pertinent patentinformation.This paper initially reviews domestic and international papers andsummarizes characteristics of university patent management and demands ofpatent information. Secondly, this paper conducts theoretical research onpatent information, university patent management system, and theirconnections and integrations. Moreover, with25prestigious foreignuniversities and14domestic universities as the study object, this papercomprehensively concludes their characteristics in management institution,staff, process, pattern, patent information and strategy by literature survey andcomparative analysis. Because of the pertinent, informative and predictivefeatures embedded in patent information, not only could it support consultingservice for researchers and industry, but also could affect management’sdecision. Thus, this paper applies theory analysis to university patentmanagement system with patent information basis. Meanwhile, it standardizesinformation analysis approaches and defines responsibilities of eachdepartment. Ultimately, empirical study is conducted among researchers andmanagement staffs in Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU). Through QFD model and clear demonstration of patent information’s demand degree andstandardized information analysis approaches, this paper constructs patentmanagement system with patent information basis for SJTU, in hope ofproviding universities with a comprehensive and pertinent patent managementsystem structure.With the advancement of patent technologies, update of management ideaand development of information techniques, the future development trend forpatent management could be characterized as systematic, precise, intelligentand personalized. For researchers and industry, they would finally acquireinformation from personalized channels and receive comprehensive patentmanagement service in related subjects. |
