The social integration of floating population has drawn much attention of related departments. The thesis focuses on the social integration of urban ethnic floating population which has not been specifically investigated so far, and it also inspects the process of social integration of this group in social workers’practice.Based on the project’Community Harmony’from L Agency, the thesis mainly discusses2problems:firstly, what are the symbols for achieving social integration? Secondly, why and how could the practice of social work promote the social integration? In this research, H.Entzinger’s4-Dimension Model on social integration was localized, namely that social integration of urban ethnic floating population was considered and evaluated from3dimensions-economic integration, social integration and cultural integration. Besides, they were further illustrated and interpreted in Pierre Bourdieu’s Capital Theory to form a basic analytical framework and establish a sound model for social workers’practice combined with Strength Perspective. The thesis consists of6chapters. The1st chapter, introduction, proposes questions that will be analyzed in this thesis after previous relevant studies reviewed, and introduces corresponding methods. The2nd chapter mainly explains the development and implementation of the project’Community Harmony’on which this research is based. The3rd,4th and5th chapters analyze and interpret the promotion of social integration for this group through social workers’practice from3aspects respectively-the accumulation and construction of economic capital, social capital and culture capital.The3rd chapter discusses how to promote the capital construction of economic integration through practice, which can be regarded as the basis for social integration. The4th chapter describes how to broaden the social integration by constructing social capital and social network. The5th chapter reveals how to emphasize cultural self-esteem, protect and inherit traditional culture, and contribute to the capital construction of cultural integration through accelerating the accumulation and reproduction of culture capital by practice, and more importantly, to arouse social workers’concern on cultural sensitivity. The5th chapter is of great significance, and the discussion on constructing cultural capital in cultural integration is one shining point because it is rare in present academia. The6th chapter is the conclusion covering3aspects:firstly, it answers the2questions in the introduction; secondly, it explains practice model of social work and social workers’cultural sensitivity both centered on capital construction from the Strength Perspective. Last but not least, it displays disadvantages of this research and some expectations which should be further explored.
