In English teaching of Senior High School, the contrast between English andChinese has long been regarded as a very important topic. As knowledge becomesmore and more complexed, the mother tongue’s interference is stronger and stronger.So to complete th English learning task of three years in Senior High School,teachersmust help students achieve the balanced transition of learning English by eliminatingmother tongue interference. The differences between English arid Chinese are not onlyobvious, but also are involved in many aspects. They are multi-level, fromvocabulary to sentence, from sentence to discourse, and from culture to thinkingmethods.In this study, the author searched the English learing of the fresh students in aprovincial demonstrative high school. First of all, the author collected and searchedthe material of students’ Chinese-English translation corpora, then analyzes their errortypes and reasons in English learning by contrastive method. At last,choosing twoclasses as an experiment class and a comparative one, the author conducted aexperiment for a year by the methods of constructional contrast of English andChinese. The experiment was divided into two stages, one is for the sentencesconstruction teaching and the other is for the words contruction teaching.This study showed that the errors of the fresh high school students’ mainlyresult from the influence of their native language construction. The influence inSenior High School is stronger than that in Junior High School. Therefore the authorgives some advice of teaching methods: such as cultivating students’ correct Englishthinking system; increasing the intensity of training; taking the contrast teachingstrateies between English and Chinese; analyzing "vocabulary, grammar, semantics,and pragmatics"as a whole from the view of constructional grammar; brieflycomparing the same phenomena between two languages contruncitons; and mailycomparing the difference bwteen English arid Chinese constructions.
