As our elementary education reform progressed, the educational value ofscience education of biology value has been widely recognized by thescholars and educators. To improve the biological literacy has been one of thebasic conceptions of the high school new curriculum, and the implementationadvice of the “Ordinary High school Biology Curriculum Standard” alsomade it clear that we should pay attention to the study of the History of LifeScience. The compilation of the history of life science content, the richresources in the history of life science and the knowledge base of biologyteacher in our biology textbook all directly affect the development of biologyteaching. At present, however, there still exists the phenomena which theHistory of Life Science and its related curriculum resources are scarce, whichlimit the teaching process of the History of Life Science, thus it is essential todo some necessary research to earnestly implement the new curriculumstandard and to improve students’ literacy of biological.On the basis of review of the teaching situation of the History of LifeScience, this paper points out the necessity of the History of Life Science andsummarizes research status and the theory basis of the History of Life Scienceeducation. It also discusses the educational value of History of Life Science toimprove students’ science literacy. In this paper, the content analysis methodis used, following life story of scientists, analyzing science history data of thehereditary and evolution module of high school biology by PeopleEducational Press, and points out some disadvantages such as the lack ofscience names, the short of resources and its various standards, the scatteredresources and so on. The questionnaire method is also used to research theconditions of demands on History of Life Science resources of high schoolbiology teachers and students. The results show that it is widely recognized that educational value ofthe History of Life Science has been accepted by teachers and students. Butthey believe that the science history data can not meet its needs, hoping togain more resources. To solve this problem, we adopt documentary method tocollect and sort the works to the high school biology history. Followingscientists in the textbook of the “genetics and evolution” module,20briefintroductions of the scientists are compiled. The results can afford someavailable resources for teachers and also offer materials for the futurecompiling of the History of Life Science.
