Parent involvement in school education is driven by the trend of the times; parentalinvolvement has become important contents of school educational development and reform inrecent30years. This study aims to take a case study as a research method and use interviewsand questionnaires as research tools to explore and discuss the changing role of parentalinvolvement. This study selected xx middle school, xx city, xx province as the research baseand selected principal, teachers and parents of grade one of the junior middle school as theobject of study. After I established cooperative relations with xx middle school, I conductedquestionnaires and interviews for the first time in order to determine the role of parentalinvolvement in schooling. Through discussions with school principals and teachers, the schoolconfirmed and adopted a series of interventions to promote parental involvement in schooleducation in order to promote the transformation of the role of parental involvement. Oneyear later, after various interventions was implemented in schools, I conducted questionnaireand interview for the second time. Through the analysis of questionnaires and interviews, Icompared the role of parental involvement to ensure whether the transformation occurred ornot.Through research we found: School interventions can promote the transformation ofroles of parental involvement. The role of parental involvement are changing from supportersto actors, but the process is tough and the transformation is not thorough. There are threereasons why the transformation is tough and halfway: the lack of parental capital; the loss ofpower and the instrumental thinking of principal; the lack of teachers’ trust. By analyzingproblems that the questionnaires and school interventions reflected, this study offer proposalsto further promote the transformation of the roles of parental involvement from two aspects ofschool and parents.
