Presently, vocational education increasingly ties with social economic anddistinctly promotes its development. Secondary vocational education is an essential partof vocational education, including technician training schools, vocational schooleducation, ordinary secondary vocational schools and kinds of short-term vocationaltrainings. It shoulders the heavy task of providing junior and intermediate technicalpersonnel for the society. But traditional training mode of secondary vocationaleducation has some problems. The drawbacks of school-based secondary vocationaleducation have been emerged. Specifically, teachers are lack of practical experiences;students’ comprehensive abilities are unable to meet the needs of the work; and theeffective cooperation system between schools and enterprises is deficient. Under suchsituations, traditional apprenticeship is on the rise again, and it arouses attentionsbecause of its great advantages. The combination of traditional apprenticeship andmodern secondary vocational education constructs new personnel training mode---modern apprenticeship. The research of modern apprenticeship theories have made plentiful achievementsin western countries and have matured in practices. Now the training mode of modernapprenticeship has had promoting conditions in secondary vocational schools in ourcountry. Many schools have trying and exploring such mode. In-depth investigationswere conducted in Guangzhou Light Industry Technicians Institute and SoutheastCulinary School by questionnaires and interviews. Findings are that "modernapprenticeship" training mode is beneficial to the reputation of secondary vocationalschools, the inheritance of traditional craft and skills, and the resolution of humanresource dilemma of enterprises. But the "modern apprenticeship" training mode inthese two schools still exists some problems. Firstly, Strong coordination fromgovernment level is lacking. What’s more, the marginalization of teachers in the schoolsmakes them hard to form educational join forces. Enterprise masters lack of workingenthusiasm. The main reasons of these problems are followings: contradiction betweengovernmental administration and education specialization, the weakness of practicaloperation ability of the teachers, and the lackness of master’s evaluation system. Forthese reasons, the research in the thesis believes that to promote "modernapprenticeship", the overall strategy is to adopt the training mode gradually and theeducation system reform should be deepened. First of all, regulations should bestrengthened to promote the coordination of dual identity. Then, teachers’ trainingshould be reinforced to improve their abilities. And third-party evaluation should beused to stimulate masters’ working enthusiasm.
