After the Opium War, by the strongly invasion of the Western imperialist powers, the ancient China has been changed its old historical development trace, this incident opened the historical process of modern social change. This process was a new "Transformation" which was completely different from the trend of alternation of Chinese dynasties.On the other hand, we faced strange but strong enemies, and we had no good quality of machine and developed technology, so the unprecedented national crisis had been strongly highlighted.As the complex national crisis penetrate into domestic political and other fields, the social and political crisis in the internal affairs dimension was totally broke out. China was beset with trouble internally and externally! To withstand foreign invasion and domestic trouble and maintain the feudal rule of the Qing Dynasty, the reformist group of internal landlords launched a Westernization Movement which made "Be strong" and "Be rich" as its logon. In order to support the cause of Westernization, westernization education becomes an important part of this movement. In the objective process of historical development, the Westernization-education had cultivated a group of new talents for the modern Chinese society. It broke the shackles of the traditional feudal education system and created a modern Chinese education history, so it played a more active role in history and had a unique historical status.However, due to the feudal and conservative of Westernization-education, it could not be realized the transformation of modernization of education.In order to enable us to have a better understanding of the Westernization-education, give a more objective evaluation of the impact of Westernization-education history and rethink the problems in the course of modern Chinese education, this paper mainly studied the following issues:the background of Westernization-education, the guiding ideology of Westernization-education, The basic proposition of Westernization-education, the main contents of Westernization-education and so on.The paper can be divided into four parts. In the first part, we briefly discuss the background and process of Westernization-education in order to reveals its inevitability of generation. In the second part, we give a detailed description of the guiding ideology of westernization education; the ideological controversy exists about this issue and the meaning of "Chinese learning as root, western learning as reference". In the third part, we discuss the founder of the new school, studying education, translated western books and change the imperial examination system, these four aspects are the key proof of the Westernization-education different from traditional education. In the last part, we discuss the influence of the Westernization-education in modern Chinese education history, and profoundly reveal its limitations and historical inspiration.
