Fantasy Basketball is an emerging freestyle sport, and provides the forms of flexiblediversification based on the generous playing conditions.. Those special features of fantasybasketball could be helpful to launch and promote into school physical education. In thisresearch report, the main context is focusing on the feasibility of setting up fantasy basketballmiddle school physical education. To analyze the current status of middle school basketballclass in Liaoning Province, the report interviewed middle school physical education teachersand students who are from the middle school offering basketball class currently, to gain thefeedbacks of offering basketball class in schooling. The report also investigated theequipment and venues used in middle school basketball class through doing literature reviewsand using mathematical statistics. Based on the results of research, it concluded that thefeasibility of offering fantasy basketball middle school physical education is viable as fantasybasketball could provide various advantages to students, including keeping basketball culturalcontinuity, enriching lives time, enhancing the appetency among students and increasing theenjoyment and new features of Chinese middle school physical education.The research revealed some circumstances of current middle school basketball class:1.For the moment, basketball teachers are tend to be younger in China, whose overallqualifications are not high and most of them are lower titles.2.From the analysis of researchobject, most of basketball teachers’ initial major are gymnastics, field and track and martialart. The main way to learn basketball knowledge and skills is from minor elective courses andoutdoor basketball exercise for those teachers.3.Even thought students are interested inbasketball and have high level of motivation, due to the difficulty of the current basketballcourse and the limitation of equipment, the satisfaction of basketball class is low.4.In theresearching middle school basketball class, the teaching methods are still remained on theoriginal teaching style, which is obviously behind the process of education for all-rounddevelopment.5.From the research, it found that the basketball teaching content is stillfocusing on the practice rather than theory, so that lead the class to become a basketball training course.6.The examination content emphasized practicality while ignoring students’progress and efforts would reduce the enthusiasm of some students without good skills.According to the problems of middle school basketball class, this report concluded theviability of offering middle school fantasy basketball class based on the physical and mentalfeatures of middle school students and the special advantageous of fantasy basketball. Theconclusion is also considering the degree of recognition from middle school basketballteachers and students to fantasy basketball. It also recommended that improved theprofessional skill training of basketball teachers, encouraged young teachers continues tostudy, increasing the cultivation of students’ personal ability and updated teaching methods.
