Along with the development and evolution of the discipline of Language andLiterature in China, the significance of “Writing” and “Oral Communication” emerges.Under the background of “New Curriculum Reform”, the Common High SchoolCurriculum Standard Experimental Textbook-Language and Literature (Obligatory)published by the People’s Education Press paralleled the “Expression and Exchange”,which is an integration of the “Writing” and “Oral Communication”, with the“Reading Appreciation”, which sees the rise of the former’s significance. However, itwas not extensively and profoundly responded; confusions and problems appeared inthe process of the students’studying and the teachers’teaching. This thesis follows theresearching methodology of “finding problems, raising questions, analyzing problems, and settling the problems”. It was divided into three main parts: Chapter One, theoutline of the “Expression and Exchange” part; Chapter Two, an investigation to thethe current situation of the “Expression and Exchange” teaching of the PEP highschool curriculum; Chapter Three, strategy research over the “Expression andExchange” teaching of the PEP high school curriculum. In the investigation, fiveproblems were unfolded:1. The teachers and students pays little attention to the“Expression and Exchange” part;2. The true feelings of the students are not expressedin the “Expression and Exchange” part;3. Topics set in the “Expression andExchange” part are not favorites of all the students;4. The students expressing andexchanging capacity is in bad need of improvement;5. Concepts of the teachers arestale. To tackle these problems, their causes were analyzed from the perspectives ofthe school, the society, the teachers and the students. Finally, with a wish of bringingforward a valuable reference for the frontline teachers of language and literature, fourtactics were proposed:1. Awaken the enthusiasm for expression and exchange;2.Cultivate the students’ capacity of expression and exchange;3. Create a situationalteaching environment and reform the teaching method;4. The family, the school andthe society coordinate for the education.
