The differentiating instruction is an important educational theory which gradually accepted by the educational researchers and educators in current English teaching.It was based on students’individual difference and characterized by meeting the needs of the students’ learning, promoting each student to obtain the full development on the basis of the original. The theory is useful and it also has been effectively applied in English teaching of senior high school. Since every student is an individual, the teachers have to constantly change the teaching methods, so as to meet the demand of different students. However, some problems that existed in the process of application appeared during the teaching practice, due to the implementation of the differentiating instruction.This paper did the research by the questionnaire from Grade one of three senior high schools in Heyuan zone of Guangdong province. The questionnaire showed that there are lots of problems in the current English teaching. Meanwhile, the analysis of differentiating instruction and English differentiating instruction also implicitly revealed that the application of differentiating instruction in the current English teaching of senior high school did not achieve the optimal level. Classroom lecture, classroom communication, after-class tutoring, extracurricular activities and assignment assessments are five fundamental parts of the English teaching process. The formulation and implement of differentiating instruction theory in term of five aspects can solve the problems that existed in the application of differentiating instruction, as well as provide the references. At the same time, it can maintain the superiority of differentiating instruction and make it active during the process of English teaching, providing each student a lot of benefit.
