For a long time, basketball is popular across both sides of Taiwan Strait. On both sides, the university high-level basketball are developing vigorously. Founded in 1998 located in mainland, China University Basketball Association (Chinese University Basketball Association, called CUBA) is a college basketball league between universities, which hosted by Chinese Basketball Association; The college Basketball game (University Basketball Association, also referred to UBA), founded in Taiwan, since 1988, is the first college student individual movement that can obtain the corporate sponsorship and media in Taiwan area. This article will focus on both sides of the development of the high-level basketball teams, communication, selection of talent athletes and the training, competition, learning, graduation requirements, where to go after guaduation of these athletes; what’s more, this arthcle will also pay attention to a comparation of both sides of college basketball league format. The studies can promote the development of universities on both sides of the high-level basketball team and train good athletes combined between exercise and literacy education. The main conclusions:1 the Mainland China university high-level basketball started relatively late. The development of the Taiwan area has begun to take shape and has cultivated many talent athletes for Taiwan’s professional basketball league, the SBL and Chinese Taipei basketball team.2 in both Mainland and Taiwan value the selection of athletes in universities, but all of them have no special agency which is responsible for high-level athlete recruitment and no unified certification standards, neither. In general, there is not a set of professional, perfect mechanism of colleges and universities to recruit high level athletes.3 the teams of the universities in both sides can basicly guarantee the time of systematic training and training in the high strength. Due to vast of the Mainland, there are more different kinds of competitions that athletes in universities have more opportunities to exercise themselves and increase their own experience. The games in Taiwan are relatively less, but Taiwan college sports federation increses the number of league games and make change of the competetion rules in order to give players more training opportunities.4 there are strict acdemic requirements of college basketball players in Taiwan, including the credit, and some other aspects. In Taiwan, sporting performance cannot take the place of academic achievement. The sporting performance and academic performance are separate thoroughly. In the oppsite, Mainland universities do not have a unified requirement of basketball players, and requirement of graduation of athletes is not high. Sometimes even a good sporting proformence can compensate-for the acdemic proformence. The lack of the relevant supervision and administration department is also a problem. For these reasons, Mainland college basketball players pay less attention to the acdemic, which lead to their academic degree is low, graduation rate is high but the graduate quality is poorer.5 more and more Mainland college basketball team hire full-time coaches. The full-time coaches bring college athletes more professional and more comprehensive promotion in the aspects of technical, tactical, physical and so on. Hiring a professional coach will become a trend of the development of Mainland universities’competitive basketball.Taiwan’s college basketball teams are mostly appointed or assigned related physical education teachers as coaches.
