With the development of research in science teaching, the discourse analysis of science textbooks is from macro-level to micro-level gradually. This study attempts to explore how discourse of modern science textbooks formed and change which accepted by social and culture. On the one hand, it helps the development and construction of science textbooks, on the other hand, it helps connect text contents in teaching practice with students` thoughts, feelings, ideas and so on. This study used content analysis and comparative analysis to construct analytic model and coding tool based on Fairclough`s framework of text discourse analysis, and construct three analytic indexes: the presentation of knowledge and meaning, order construction of science study and social practice and application.The results show that: first, the discourse formulation of domestic science textbooks is influenced by our country’s social and culture background. It is constructed by the combination of abstract description and resultant knowledge, and in the formation of science discourse the transformation of concept is mainly on the daily concept. Second, the discourse formulation of domestic science textbooks is insufficient of the culture of students` science ways of thinking and the shape of scientific humanistic value, which is still mainly trained by the way of traditional inquiry process pattern, not using science method like analogy, modeling, ect. Although, it is clear that the development of science is served for the society, the popular science is ignored, and it is filled with utilitarian of science. Third, the discourse formulation of domestic science textbooks is limited to knowledge and skill, emotion, attitude and emotions, STS and so on for the enhance of students` scientific literacy. And it is lack of depth in the research of nature and the training of critical thinking.Finally, the study offers some recommendations to improve the discourse formulation of domestic science textbooks, limitations of the study and directions for future research.
