In recent years, many English teachers have tried to change the traditional teaching ideas and teaching methods. The teaching language should be valued because of its importance. The research objects are the junior high school English teacher. It discusses teaching language that English teachers use in the present characteristics. The aims are to improve the use of English teaching language as well as provide some guidance or suggestions for the current English teaching and teaching reform.In the process of studying, the subjects are three English teachers and their students. They come from Baiyin district, Baiyin City, Gansu Province in the western China. Every teacher’s class is observed and recorded for 40 minutes. 161 students of the three classes are investigated through a questionnaire survey. In this research, I analyze the use of English teaching language from five aspects: the authenticity and correctness of English teaching language, the relationship between behavior and student engagement, individual difference of English teaching language use, and the effectiveness of feedback. The main results are as follows:Firstly, the authenticity of English teaching language deserves more attention. Secondly, English teachers need to improve the correctness of teaching language. Thirdly, arousing the different students to participate the learning can be achieved by improving English teachers’ teaching language. Fourthly, there are similarities and differences among English teachers, which are talk relation, talk in forms and talk standard. Fifthly, there’s still room for improvement about the effectiveness of feedback.Based on the results of the study, this paper provides some suggestions for English teaching in junior high schools in China:1. The teachers are expected to cultivate daily language communicative competence.2. Based on the characteristics of English teaching, the teachers are expected to strengthen the training of language use.3. Teaching practice deserves more attention, to strengthen the language guidance in the process of probation and internship.4. The teachers are encouraged to use authentic and correct language. They should use appropriate techniques of asking questions and giving feedbacks.5. The teachers are encouraged to use language regularly.
