Study On Confucianism Humanistic Spirit Modern Implication And Its Enlightenment On University Character Education

Any once glorious era will become something in the past. Yet, the wisdom left by human ancestors in the depth of history has been passed down and still shines brightly today. Confucianism, with Confucius as its representative, though has traveled through time tunnel for thousands of years, is still our fundamental basis for dealing with people and things and making a life.The main thread and logic system of this paper are the theoretic basis, modern implications and core values. This paper is theoretically based on the insights into "Ren" (benevolence) in Confucianism by Mr. Du Weiming, who is the representative scholar of the third-phase Confucianism and is also one of the most influential modern thinkers. This paper also regards the classic interpretation of Confucianism-"Ren" on the top of all ethics as its theoretic foundation and points out that "Ren" is the basis of perfect personality as well as the most complete moral system in the Confucian value system.Based on the theoretical support of the Confucian "He He"(harmony) spirit and "Ren Li"(kindness and politeness).This paper explorer the good example of the Song Dynasty’s Academy which cultivated and improved its students with extensive and profound connotation is a good example. Zhang Zai in song dynasty put forward his "Four-for Principle"-"make up your mind for the world, devote your life for human beings, continue the glorious culture for the sages, get peace for the whole world". All these will help the students to shoulder the historical task, form the sense of responsibility and pursue their goals. By doing so, it can help them set up lofty values and outlook on life.The core and feature of Confucian humanistic spirit form the gene of the Chinese people, with its core character leading china and the world for thousands of years. Based on the inheritance, promotion and the core value of the classic Confucian spirit and the improvement of the moral quality of the college students, this paper emphasizes the core value and significance of this study, that is, the utmost goal of character education is to form good qualities of the mind and civilized manners and to build fine individual values, under the guidance of core values and with the main content of value education as its carrier. As a result, this paper aims to improve the self-culture of the college students based on the character education of the core classic Confucian spirit-"Ren De" (kindheartedness),"Ren Shan"(kindness) and "Cheng Xin"(honesty). In practice, character education should run through the whole college education on a temporal level, and the practical methods for character education should be expanded in a comprehensive and multi-level way on a spatial level,this improving the cultivation of moral character.
