With the deepening of the English New Curriculum Reform, there is a high requirement of English teachers’ teaching quality. It finds that teaching reflection is an effective way to improve teacher’s teaching quality and foster their professional development. Teaching reflection means looking at what you do in the classroom, thinking about why you do it, and thinking about if it works----a process of self-observation and self-evaluation. The theory teaching reflection was originated abroad and then was introduced to China. Since then, a lot of research on teaching reflection was carried out. However, due to some reasons, there are some limitations of the research. Especially the research on student teacher’s teaching reflection are few.This study bases on the theory of teaching reflection in China and abroad and combines the English teaching reflection theory with English teaching in senior middle school. Senior middle school English teaching is a dynamic and complex process in which both implicit and explicit factors are involved. In this study, the teaching journal, the audio and video recording and the interview are used to carry out an overall study of the student teacher’s teaching reflection in middle school. It aims to find out the current situation of teaching reflection, the characteristics of teaching reflection and the factors influencing the teaching reflection. This study aims to offer some insights and implication for teachers’ professional development.This paper consists of five parts. The first part is an introduction of the background and significance of the study. The second part is literature review of the teaching reflection theory abroad and at home which forms the basis of this study. The relationship between teaching reflection and teachers’ professional development was introduced. The third part introduces the instruments used in the study and how to collect the data. The fourth part is an introduction of the results and the discussion of the results. The fifth part is a summary of the major findings and the suggestions for further research.
